Sometimes, truly useful information appears in unexpected places.

Every three years, I am obligated to complete 60 professional development units (PDUs) in order to renew my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. The smart thing to do would be to complete a couple of hours worth of videos every month during the three year period, but the procrastination factor is high for me in getting these done. I have roughly two months to get 20 hours completed. Sounds bad, but I was in worse shape in the last renewal cycle so I at least feel better about that.

Most of the videos I need to watch are project management-specific and they can be a bit dry.

Somewhat ironically (or maybe it’s karma), one of the best LinkedIn Learning courses I have seen during this renewal cycle is the Time Management Fundamentals video presented by Dave Crenshaw. While one would think that my time management skills are at least passable given my background as a Project Manager (they are), I am finding the practical discussion offered during this course helpful in finding ways to be more efficient in how I process data.

This is a LinkedIn Learning course, so if you have access to that already, great. If you don’t have access to LinkedIn Learning, see if your local library has access. I haven’t paid for LinkedIn Learning in months, and it is great to have access to the content for about 15 minutes of effort to get my library card.
